About the Artist

"...insight, vision, moments of revelation. During these rare moments something overtakes you and you become the tool of a greater Force: the servant, willing or unwilling depending on your degree of awakeness. The photograph, then, is a message more than a mirror, and you a messenger who happens to be a photographer." – Minor White

Trudy Ray is a life-long visual artist of many expressions. Her insatiable love of flowers and interest in the natural world has led her to use her camera as her most chosen medium. While traveling to diverse sites to find a vast array of subjects, she uses natural light to capture her fine art images. To help preserve the ethereal light and selective focus of her flowers, she uses “Lensbaby” optics almost exclusively.

With a degree in Visual Arts, over the years Trudy has expressed her creativity in many forms; interior design, art direction, and as a co-owner of a celebrated hand-painted clothing company…just to name a few. She also loves travel, writing, poetry, practicing “process” intuitive painting and, of course, nature photography. She has been an avid student of meditation for the past 30 years and has also enthusiastically volunteered with various international not-for-profit organizations. All of this experience greatly influences her creative expressions and especially her unique brand of ethereal macro flower photography. She views this current artistic endeavor as an esteemed and important spiritual practice. Her images are often recognized as having unique healing energy. They were donated and are currently displayed in a cancer center in Chicago. Trudy currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband and artistic partner of 43 years, Martin Ray, who she met in design school. He generously shared his graphic design and technical skills to help create this website. Together they are heading into the most prolific and creative adventures of their lives!
